If you have a damaged or decayed tooth that is badly weakened, Saddleback Dental Centre can create a dental crown or cap to fit on top and bring back your natural smile. Crowns can be placed on natural teeth and dental implants. They are used as an alternative to veneers to cover discoloured or misshapen teeth. Crowns cover more of the tooth than veneers.
We Precisely Match the Shape and Colour of Your Natural Tooth
Using the latest in technology, Saddleback Dental Centre can expertly match the shape and colour of the original tooth and adjust as necessary to suit your bite. It will look and feel just like your natural tooth, only it will be stronger and in perfect condition.

Dental Crown Procedure
The first step in the process is to complete dental repairs to the affected tooth, if required. We have to make sure decay does not continue to break down a tooth underneath the crown. Once any decay or damage is treated, an impression of your teeth and gums is made and sent to the lab for crown fabrication.
A Little Extra Caution Will Keep Your Crown Protected
We prepare your tooth by reducing it so the crown can fit properly in your mouth. We then fit a temporary crown over the tooth until the permanent one is ready. On the second visit, we remove the temporary crown and cement the permanent one onto the tooth. Keep in mind that maintenance of crowns is not much different than normal dental care, although you should be a little more cautious than usual. To prevent damage or fracturing, you should avoid chewing hard foods, ice or other hard items. Grinding will also affect the integrity of the crown.
Cleaning between your teeth is vital when you have a crown. Floss or interdental cleaners such as special brushes and sticks are important tools to remove plaque from the crown area where the gum meets the tooth. Plaque in that area can cause decay and gum disease.
